WHAT'S IN MY BAG

So I often get asked about the type of equipment I use. I thought I'd share some of what I use on a regular basis.

Here are the lenses I use (except for the one on my camera, the 85mm 1.4) I prefer to use Nikon lenses on my Nikon cameras. There are definitely some decent third party lenses, but I have found I get the best results using the best quality professional lenses.

AF-S VR NIKKOR 70-200mm 1:2.8G
During a wedding, this lens rarely leaves my camera. The wide aperture and lethally long zoom make for the perfect lens for capturing the intimacy of a wedding. It works wonderfully for beautiful portraits as well, capturing incredible images with amazing color and background.

AF-S MICRO NIKKOR 105mm 1:2.8G ED VR
This is my macro lenses, and it is the standard by which other macro lenses are measured. It's also an incredible portrait lens. Although I don't use it as much, it's amazing for detail shots!

AF-S NIKKOR 17-55mm 1:2.8G ED DX
On a D300, this is effectively a 25-85mm f/2.8 lens. It's my workhorse by far. I use this lens more often than really anything else in my bag. I use it at weddings, for wide portraits, for scene setting shots, for taking shots around home and for almost everything. If I can only carry one lens with me - this is the one.

AF NIKKOR 50mm 1:1.4 D
This lens is great for dark reception halls, and situations where I need a normal lens with great low light capabilities.

AF NIKOR 85mm 1:1.4 D
This is my primary portrait lens. It's phenomenal for it's sharpness, amazing color and depth of field - and it's low light capabilities. It's also another go-to when I'm indoors, shooting available light - when there's not much light!
