Yesterday. I was in Minneapolis to teach a workshop in the morning for Apple.  My plan was to fly in early, and then fly home last night.  Now that I'm a dad, I find that I'm in much more of a hurry to come back home when I travel - I'd rather be with my family!  Well, since the only flight direct back to Lansing doesn't leave until 8:30PM, I had some time.

Knowing this, I scheduled a session with a local jazz-folk band, Bella Ruse , that is in the process of recording their debut album.  Bella Ruse is Kay and Joseph, and they were so much fun to hang out with and photograph.  I've known Kay since she was in High School, and it's way fun for me to see her success as she becomes a star!

Here's a few of my favorite images from our afternoon!

Barak Obama in Lansing, MI

I had the opportunity to shoot the Barak Obama visit to Lansing, MI for a stock image agency yesterday, so I did.  While I'm not a democrat, and this wasn't political for me - it was still a pretty cool event.  I'll say that Obama's supporters are very, very high-energy.

Sen. Obama begins his speech.

There was quite a crowd for this speech.

The press was given two locations to shoot from.  One was from the back center of the room for straight shots, and the other is a "cut riser" on stage left (the right of the room for the audience) to get this type of shot.  Notice how there are people strategically placed on the side of the room under a huge American flag.  Every detail is staged at these types of events :)

It was fun, but it made for a very long day.  There was A LOT of security.  More than I can even remember for hearing then-President Clinton speak in Chicago years ago at a conference I was at.
